About Selection Process

Annual Selection Process for 11 Community Service Award Winners

WXIA-TV, 11Alive requests nominations for potential Community Service Award winners each year from June 1st through January 10th. The nomination forms and the details for submission are located on the 11Alive website and are available throughout the year.

Through on-air public service announcements, social media posts and letters to the Atlanta non-profit community, nominations are requested.

Nomination forms are collected and submitted to our 11Alive Community Service Award Board of Governors for review. The Board judges the nominations based on the criteria outlined below. At the annual Judging Luncheon and Board meeting, the winners are selected.

Judging Criteria for Review:
Level of initiative required
Innovativeness of the approach
Breadth of community impact
Effective use of resources available to the individual(s)
Longevity of the effort
Overall significance of the issue being addressed

The Boisfeuillet Jones Award is the top award of the Community Service Awards. It is the only award of the 11 Winners that the general public does not participate in the nomination. The nominees come from the 11Alive Community Service Awards Board of Governors.
